If you’re not sure what the Search Console is, here’s all you need to know about the platform…

What is Google Search Console?

Google Search Console (previously known as Google Webmaster) is a free tool which allows you to check the indexing status of your website and optimise its visibility on the search engine. In layman’s terms, this means adding a small piece of code to your site to ensure it’s picked up by Google’s search engine and gets the highest possible views.

It allows you to submit and and check a site map – indicating any errors. It also let’s you view the statistics on Googlebot, the search bot software used by Google, which collects documents from the web to build a searchable index for the Google Search engine.

The console also provides reports and alerts you of any unusual activity – reducing the risk of getting hacked! Essentially, it’s a handy platform which helps you get the most out of your site on Google!

Why does the update matter?

The console has been redesigned to help you manage your organisation’s presence on Google Search. The new Console was rebuilt to provide the tools that site owners have been waiting for.

You can now see which of your pages are indexed and get information on how to fix indexing errors. You can also monitor your performance on Google Search with 16-months of data to enable year-over-year comparisons.

What does this mean for recruiters?

As we have mentioned (956376384683 times), Google loves Google! So, using their platform to get your site noticed on the search engine is a recipe for success!
